Since the screening of the BBC documentary - Pedigree Dogs Exposed - there has been a huge amount going on to improve the welfare around all dog breeding - not just pedigrees. One of our vets, Nicky Paull, was very much involved with this at the start of the work involved through her links with the British Veterinary Association. We have been asked to find some clients who would be happy to look at a proposed Puppy Information Pack (PIP) that would be used with a Puppy Contract when a puppy was purchased. The draft has been produced by the BVA's charity - the Animal Welfare Foundation together with the RSPCA. If any of you could help with this we can email you the draft for you to look at and comment on. And as an extra note re pedigree dog breeding a very good new website has just been launched - it is aim is to enable potential dog owners to quickly evaluate various breeds: to see if a breed would suit their lifestyle; to find a breed (or cross breed) with fewer serious health problems; and to understand what information they should get from a breeder before buying a puppy.
